What services they offer
At St. Jude, all patients will be given a great chance to experience a life saving difference through the care and expertise of the medical staff.
St. Jude and the entire staff have always aimed at finding means of better prevention and the latest cures for pediatric catastrophic diseases.
Since they treat more than 67000 patients in a year, they have experienced, cured and tackled almost all the rare diseases that have caught hold of children.
It offers the most comprehensive care and support that patients and families can get in this area and all expenses are met through donations from all over the world.
What makes them different?
The uniqueness of St. Jude is the way they understand and deal with the disease, the patient and also the family.
Follow up Care: They care for the patient even while they are in the hospital under their care and also after they have left the hospital. Since they value the health and happiness of children a lot, they make sure to check and monitor children for at least 3 years of follow up care after they have left the hospital alive, happy and healthy.
This is done by coordinating with the child’s local doctor and it has proved to be very useful for doctors all around the world.
Sincerity: The difference comes from their service mind and earnestness to see each and every child happy, and their families too should trust and be relieved that they have come to the right hands to find solace from dreadful diseases.
When Elizabeth was 2 years old, she was hit with the truth- she was suffering from leukemia. It was hard and unbelievable to her parents, who were both doctors. Further tests proved that she was suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), a type of blood cancer. Her mother though in anguish, “I thought, is this the last time I’m going to see her? Is she going to die?"
She was immediately referred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Elizabeth’s mother was happy because it was the best hospital and increased the chances of survival from just 4 % to 94%.
‘People here at St. Jude love their jobs, and they’re great with the kids. And that makes it so much easier to be here.’ said Elizabeth’s mother.
The little girl had undergone treatment for about 2 ½ years and now she is safe, strong and happy. One of the main reasons is that both children and families never feel that they are in a hospital but rather a very child friendly environment that makes even the children feel at ease. Also, the family had never been given a bill and her mother was thankful a child could a future with the help of someone’s donation.
