Each interpreter has completed at least 40 hours of Medical interpretation training making her/him a professionally trained interpreter. A Certified Medical interpreter is the one who has completed the requirements with the only two recognized bodies in the U.S. that can issue the Certification: the National Board of Certified Medical Interpreters(NBCMI) and the Certification Commission of Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI)
